■ Alps Azumino National Government Park (Omachi/Matsukawa Area) Website (Japanese)
Alps Azumino National Government Park (Omachi/Matsukawa Area) contains both the mountain scenery of the Northern Alps along with their attendant forests. Here, many possibilities for contact with nature exist. Well above the forest floor, one’s eye level may be as high as 9 meters, in the unique space of the treetops and surrounding nature. Or perhaps the challenge of trying to light a campfire in the rain. These, and many other enjoyable outdoor activities are possible at the “Mori-no-Taikensha” and other hands-on facilities.
During winter season, it is a popular spot for fantastic illumination displays with hundreds of thousands of light bulbs.
