Omachi Folk Museum

This museum exhibits important cultural properties of Omachi, including pottery dating from the prehistoric period to the 16th century that was excavated in Omachi, and materials related to paper making, which was the main industry in the area from the 17th century until the 1950s.

Asanoyakata (House of Hemp)

The name of the district “Miasa” literally means “beautiful hemp”, indicating that hemp plants were grown in the area.
This museum displays photos and documents relating to the cultivation and transportation of the hemp crop.
By reservation, it is also possible to experience making soba (buckwheat noodles).

The Former Nakamura Family Residence, an Important Cultural Property

The main house was constructed in 1698, making it one of the oldest houses in the prefecture. It is a very valuable building, conveying the appearance of rural residences at that time.
